Deliver Your Inner Confusion to the Earth

The Art of Mundane Transposition
Ancient this practice is. No achievement to reach, no breathing to perfect. The law of mundane transposition, the Tao Te Ching Chapter 16 calls it. Where it leads, you will learn once you understand.
The Instructions
Settle somewhere. Feet flat on the floor. Your eyes, open or closed . The weight of your body, feel it. Gravity, requiring nothing of you but to rest in it.
All your inner confusion, deliver it to the earth. Resting quietly, leave your mind undisturbed. The disturbance inside, it is only: Worry, guilt, the low hum of things unsettled, the conversation you keep replaying, yes. Examine it you must not. Trace it back to its source, do not. Downward, simply let it move. Let it go.
Slightly open, imagine the soles of your feet. This need not be dramatic. On your next exhale, sink downward let whatever is heaviest in your mind, through the body, through the feet, into the earth. Without judgment the earth receives it. Receiving things for a long time, the earth has. You need not, Watch it go, Only, Release your grip. Just slightly. Just enough.
The thoughts will come. They always do. One confusion pulls another, and that one pulls three more. Allow all of it to manifest. Move and bustle in your reflective awareness, Let it be. From a quiet place inside, watch. With a controlled heart, a simple spirit. Managing the thoughts, do not. Follow the thoughts, do not.
The shapes in your mind will keep moving. Clear they will, the moment you stop stirring. A cup of muddy water is agitated. But once you stop stirring, something begins. Drift, the particles do. Downward. Its own stillness, the water finds, without your help. Stay with this. Stay with this..
When the shapes slow, something opens. Without force it arrives. It does not announce itself. You will notice simply, that the noise has softened. Beneath it, something was always already still. In that stillness, you will see yourself as you truly are. A small shock, this moment carries. If it does not surprise you, there is more to be done.
Where this practice leads, the Tao Te Ching says quiet and exact,
Tolerance, mundane transposition brings. Not endurance. Not gritted teeth. The understanding you sense before words. Yourself first. Then of others.
Into tolerance, Insight opens. Into insight, wisdom opens. The Insight argues not with what it sees. Insight creates, Resonance, sustained: with the heavens, the earth, and the people around you. The difficult ones. The beloved ones. The strangers you pass without a word.
And resonance, with this alignment becomes a direct conversation with the miracle. Observed from a distance, it is not, but, from inside, it is lived. Even in ordinary death, forever a part of it you will remain.
Accomplish this in a single sitting? No. Measured in months and years this undertaking. In ordinary moments it is practiced. Humble the practice is, precisely because what it leads to, is not humble.
Set it down now. Whatever you carry with you, set it down. This ancient force created you, you did not create it. It has always been here, willing for us to see.
